What is the Progressive Business Leaders Network (PBLN)?
PBLN is a network of CEOs top executives and entrepreneurs. We are an education and advocacy organization focused on advancing business best practices and public policy positions that have the potential to drive invention of a more sustainable and competitive economy. PBLN, Inc. is incorporated in Massachusetts as a non-profit and is a tax exempt charitable organization pursuant to section 501(c)3 of the federal tax code.

What does PBLN do?
We engage, educate and empower progressive business leaders to work within their companies, with one another and with policy-makers on solutions to the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing society and the economy. We offer a twelve-month calendar of activities and programs for member and participant engagement and two annual conferences (one in Boston and one Washington, DC. We engage in legislative and executive advocacy to the extent allowed by law.

Does PBLN have a special focus or expertise?
The PBLN expertise is on bringing top business leaders and policy-shapers together to work on developing and articulating creative solutions to our society’s toughest challenges. Those who participate bring a wide range of perspectives and a wide range of expertise. They generally have a shared vision that problems have solutions and that government and business have to work together to protect future economic growth as well as social and economic justice.

Does PBLN engage in partisan politics?
No. We are a non-partisan organization.

Does PBLN take positions on public policy issues?
Yes. For the purpose of educating our members, the business community, public policy makers and the public we will do so on select issues by a vote of our Board.

Does PBLN engage in lobbying?
PBLN engages in lobbying to the extent permitted under state laws and our federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit status.

Does the PBLN endorse candidates for office or engage in fundraising for candidates for political office?
No.

Do I have to be a CEO or top executive to participate in PBLN activities?
No. Our conferences, working group programs and other activities are not restricted to CEOs and top executives though some programs and sessions might be.

How do I become a member?
Membership is currently offered for charter members at $5,000 and for standard members at $1,600 on an annual basis to qualified individuals. Charter members are offered access to special events and given a higher level of visibility and opportunity to participate in leadership of the organization.
